Strictly Come Dancing star Ashley Roberts isn’t worried about her romance with professional dancer Giovanni Pernice, with the star grilled over the so-called show “curse”.
The BBC dancing series has seen many of its celebrity and professional dancers face heartbreak in the past, with marriage and romance splits.
There’s also been quite a few romances on the show, some lasting longer than others, with Ashley and Giovanni being the latest pair to find love during filming.
While Ashley and her beau weren’t actually partnered up together, they soon began a romance which has continued outside of the series.
Now, the star has opened up on her evolving relationship with Giovanni, speaking on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday.
Host Piers Morgan grilled her over the “Strictly curse” and asked if she was worried about him doing the show again this year.
Giovanni is one of the dancers confirmed to be returning to the show where they found love, but Ashley admitted she had nothing to fear.
Telling Piers and co-host Susanna Reid all about their romance, she said: “I feel we have a real connection.
“He’s also very supportive and he’s so excited I’m doing Waitress. He said, 'I’m gonna be there on the 17th June for the first night'.”
After managing to successfully move the conversation on, Piers couldn’t help have one more attempt at bringing up the “curse”.
Asked about Giovanni’s next celebrity partner, yet to be revealed, Ashley revealed why she wasn’t fazed and had nothing to worry about.
She told Piers: “That is a good question, but I do trust him,” before again changing the topic by bringing up professional dancer Pasha Kovalev’s exit from the series.
On what brought her and Giovanni together, she added: “We weren’t partnered up, but we ended up having a bit of a romance on the show. It evolved into something much bigger after that.”
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
