Woman, son murdered

A woman and her four-year-old son, who were natives of Uttar Pradesh, were found dead at her sister’s rented house in Jinkalwada of Sanathnagar here on Sunday afternoon.

The victims were identified as Urmila (30) and her son Kishan. The woman, along with her husband Rajesh and son, came to Hyderabad from Uttar Pradesh 15 days ago in search of livelihood. They were staying at Urmila’s sister, Chanda’s house. Police suspect that Rajesh, who is at large, was involved in the double murder and a case of murder was registered. Initial investigation revealed that Rajesh had a heated argument with his wife, following which he clobbered her to death with an iron rod. Later, he took their son inside the bathroom and drowned him in a bucket full of water, said Balanagar Deputy Commissioner of Police P.V. Padmaja.

The couple was married 10 years ago and had frequent altercations over his employment. Back home in UP, Rajesh did not report for work frequently citing ill-health. “As he was not employed anywhere and was sitting idle, Urmila’s sister Chanda and her husband Deepak had advised them to come to Hyderabad. Following this, they moved to Hyderabad around15 days ago and were staying with them,” the DCP said.

She said that on Sunday morning, both Deepak and Chanda had left for work and at 1 p.m. when Deepak returned home, he found the house was locked. Again around 3 p.m. the couple came home and found that the doors were still locked and tried making phone calls to Urmila. “Suspecting that something is wrong, Deepak, with the permission of the house owner, broke open the lock, only to find Urmila lying in a a pool of blood and her son drowned in water in a bathroom,” Ms. Padmaja said. The motive behind the double murder would be known only when he was nabbed, said the police.
