Says LDF lost moral right to continue in office
Taking a cue from the massive verdict it got in the Lok Sabha elections in the State, the United Democratic Front (UDF) on Monday promised to bring in legislation to protect the custom and traditions of Sabarimala if it came to power in the next Assembly elections.
It also said it would address the issues faced by the minorities, Dalits and backward classes due to the policy perspectives of the Narendra Modi and Pinarayi Vijayan governments which were inimical to their interests.
Addressing a press conference here, Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala said that the Opposition coalition’s response to the poll outcome was one of humility and not arrogance. The verdict was so vehement, decisive and sweeping that the Left Democratic Front had lost the moral right to continue in office.
The Modi government was able to recapture power at the Centre through tie-up with regional parties and by stoking communal feelings and national passion.
The UDF would take out victory marches in all panchayats on June 1.
