According to the police, the passengers hailed from Davangere and were on their way to attend a family function in Goa.
As many as eleven people were killed and six others were injured in a road accident near Itigatti village of Karnataka’s Dharwad district on Friday.
The victims include ten women and a driver after a tempo collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction on the Hubballi-Dharwad bypass road in North Karnataka. The injured people were later admitted to a local hospital for treatment.
According to the police, the passengers hailed from Davangere and were on their way to attend a family function in Goa.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to express his grief over the incident. “Saddened by the loss of lives due to a road accident in Karnataka’s Dharwad district. In this sad hour, my thoughts are with the bereaved families. I pray for a quick recovery of those injured,” the Prime Minister tweeted.
