Slipknot’s Shawn Crahan thanks fans for support after daughter’s death at 22

Heartbroken Shawn Crahan has spoken out after the tragic death of his daughter Gabrielle.

The Slipknot drummer thanked fans for their messages of support on behalf of his family.

Gabrielle died on Saturday, aged just 22, just two days after proudly showing off an Alcoholics Anonymous coin she'd been given to mark the fact she'd reached five months sober.

Shawn, who goes by the stage name Clown, confirmed the sad news.

He said: "It is with a broken heart, and from a place of the deepest pain, that I have to inform all of you that my youngest daughter, Gabrielle, passed away yesterday – Saturday May 18th, 2019.

"Funeral arrangements will be forthcoming. My family and I ask that our privacy be respected moving forward."

Now, he's released another statement with the details for his little girl's funeral.

He said in a statement on his band's Twitter account: "Firstly: Chantel, Alexandria, Gage, Simon and I would like to thank everyone for the endless amount of love, prayers, thoughts, and kindness we have been receiving.

"While it is not possible for me to read and respond to each individual message & comment right now, I want you to know that we can feel the energy shared and we are so grateful.

"You have all proven that there is empathy, positivity, & strength in this community that we call humanity here on Earth.

"Second: There will be a funeral for my daughter Gabrielle on Sunday May 26th. Flowers may be sent to the Scottish Rite Consistory in Des Moines. Cards & condolences may be directed to Iles Funeral Home in Des Moines.

"Thank you endlessly, Shawn and family"

Fans sent him their love.

"Stay strong," one told him.

Another said: "Still praying for her, and sending all my good vibes to you and your whole family."

Shawn shared a picture of clouds in the sky, the kind taken from a plane window mid-flight, alongside his statement.
