Kate Garraway took to Instagram and revealed she received an Easter surprise after the family car was stolen in November. The Good Morning Britain host was loaned a new vehicle much to her delight.

The 53-year-old gushed over the temporary gift which she used over the bank holiday weekend.

It comes as the presenter had a “hard” second Easter with husband Derek Draper who remains in hospital following his fight with coronavirus.

The mum-of-two was able to deliver Easter eggs to her children Darcey, 15, and 11-year-old Billy’s closest friends in the area.

In view of her one million Instagram followers, Kate penned: “Then the day got even better – thanks to the fantastic gang @peugeotuk who have loaned me this car after ‘Vickie Volvo’ was pinched we are mobile again!

“It arrived just in the nick of time for us to deliver some #eastereggs to friends. Lovely to be out and about a little bit.”

She added: “The car is super sporty and I promise to be super careful with it so you have it back in mint condition! Hope you have all had a lovely day & are stuffed full of chocolate #easter #hope #nearlythere.”

It comes after Kate was left devastated when the family car vanished from outside her home in November.

During a chat on GMB, she told Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid: “Can you believe it, my car was stolen!”

“It’s disappeared from outside my house,” Kate added.

The presenter had explained that she believed the car had been removed because of an unpaid driving ticket which she wouldn’t have known about because the car was in Derek’s name.

She commented: “Because Derek’s been out of action and not been able to manage that kind of thing since March and it’s probably gone through some sort of system and it’s been impounded.

“So I spent a few days ringing around trying to find out if that was the case.”

Kate concluded: “The police were very helpful and they did some searches as well but it doesn’t seem to be the case – it’s actually been stolen.”

Meanwhile, the GMB host revealed it had been a “hard” second Easter without Derek at home.

Kate’s husband was hospitalised at the end of March last year with coronavirus.

After a gruelling health battle, he is still under the care of doctors.

Taking to the picture-sharing site, Kate shared an image which saw her neighbour with an impressive looking cake – a gift for her and her two children.

Kate wrote alongside: ” #happyeaster everyone – so hard that it’s the second we’ve lived through in lockdown/restrictions.

“And of course our second without Derek home with us.”

She went on to share a positive message with users, saying she was thankful he was “still here”.

Kate wrote: “But he is still here, so we have so much to give thanks for and there’s lots to hope for, isn’t there?

“Our day started with sun shining and our wonderful neighbour, who we call ‘Cakesuzy’, bringing round the most amazing #easter cake ever she had made herself!”(sic)
