Colin Farrell set tongues wagging at Tuesday’s Golden Globes as he enjoyed a flirty exchange with Ana De Armas during his acceptance speech for Best Actor – Motion Picture – Musical/Comedy.
The Irish star, 46, who picked up the gong for his role in The Banshees of Inisherin, showed off his sensitive side as he revealed to De Armas, 34, that her role as Marilyn Monroe biopic, Blonde, had left him ‘crying himself to sleep.’
Fans quickly erupted on social media as they claimed the notorious Hollywood lothario was ‘shooting his shot’ at the Cuban beauty.

As he accepted his award from fellow nominee De Armas, Farrell said: ‘I just thought you were extraordinary. I cried myself to sleep the night I saw your film, Blonde. I cried myself to sleep.
‘One thing had to do with the music that played at the moment where the shot opens and just seeing her ankles at the edge of the bed. It messed me up so bad.
‘Not a joke, but you’re welcome to laugh. It’s not my place to say what’s appropriate laughter in this world.’

Elsewhere in his speech, Farrell spoke of the critical acclaim levelled at the film, which sees Farrell reunite with his In Bruges co-star Brendan Gleeson.
He said: ‘To work on this film, I never expect films to work or to find an audience and when they do, it’s shocking to me. I’m horrified by what’s happened around over the last couple of months, in a thrilling kind of way.’
The Banshees of Inisherin scooped Best Picture – Musical/Comedy and Best Screenplay for Martin McDonagh.
Jennifer Coolidge, House Of The Dragon and Steven Spielberg’s box office flop The Fabelmans were the big winners at Tuesday night’s 80th annual Golden Globes in Los Angeles.
The White Lotus lead Jennifer, 61, earned Best Supporting Actress – Television Limited Series/Motion Picture while The White Lotus triumphed in the Best Limited Series, Anthology Series or Television Motion Picture category during the ceremony at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.

Meanwhile, House Of The Dragon earned the top television honor of Best Drama Series.
The Fabelmans – which stars Michelle Williams and Seth Rogen – took home the coveted Best Picture – Drama beating out Avatar: The Way of Water, Elvis, TAR, and Top Gun: Maverick.
Spielberg, 76, also won Best Director over James Cameron – Avatar: The Way of Water, Daniel Scheinert, Daniel Kwan – Everything Everywhere All at Once, Baz Luhrmann – Elvis, and Martin McDonagh – The Banshees of Inisherin.
Top awards also went to Austin Butler and Cate Blanchett, with Austin taking home the trophy for Best Performance by an Actor in a motion picture: drama gong for his lead role in Elvis.
Cate, who was a no show at the ceremony triumphed in Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture: Drama category, for her performance in Tar.
Irish star Colin Farrell took home the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for his role in The Banshees Of Inisherin, which he stars in alongside Brendan Gleeson, and thanked his entire cast and crew.
McDonagh also went on to win the award for best screenplay for The Banshees Of Inisherin.
Earlier, Naatu Naatu, from the film RRR, overcame pop music heavyweights Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and Rihanna, to claim the Golden Globe for best original song.
Eddie Murphy received a standing ovation as he collected the coveted Cecil B DeMille award, which paid homage to his 40 year career.
A slew of celebrities took on presenting duties throughout the evening including Letitia Wright, Jennifer Hudson, Salma Hayek, Hilary Swank and Ana De Armas.
