EastEnders star Danny Hatchard rushed to hospital after injury as he shares snap

Former EastEnders actor Danny Hatchard recently revealed he had sustained an arm injury which resulted in him having to go to hospital.

The soap star, 31, who portrayed Lee Carter in EastEnders from 2014 until 2017, took to his Instagram Stories to share a photograph of his injury with fans.

He could be seen sitting in a hospital room with one of his forearms in plaster but kept the story behind his injury under wraps.

Danny, who also starred in Our Girl and Ridley Road, simply captioned his post: "Fun", and could be seen showing off his plaster cast in the selfie.

Danny left EastEnders in 2017 after starring as Lee, the son of Linda (Kellie Bright) and Mick (Danny Dyer), for three years, with his character being written out of the show.

In August 2016, BBC bosses announced Danny would be leaving the soap with an insider not ruling out a return for the actor in the future.

"This was a tough decision," a source close to the BBC told The Sun at the time. "But sometimes to create big storylines characters need to come and go.

"Danny-Boy is a dedicated actor and a popular cast member, and as part of the Carter family, no one should rule out a return."

Months after his departure from the soap aired, Danny revealed he was "disappointed" by his EastEnders exit.

"I was disappointed how my character left with the mental health story", he told The Mirror.

"He could have left with something similar but with a little more attention to detail. I feel it got a little brushed off a bit."

Speaking about producer Sean O'Conner's decision, he added: "I had to accept that, just in terms of how my storyline came to an end. That is just the way it is."

Lee's official exit saw his marriage to Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) break down with him heading to Dover to start a new life.

The character has briefly returned to Albert Square twice, with his last appearance being in 2020.
