Hairstylist Ishi — who famously cut off Johnny Damon’s locks when he became a Yankee, and has tended to the tresses of a range of stars including Zoe Saldana, Melanie Hamrick, Candice Swanepoel, Carey Mulligan, Alan Gilbert and almost everyone at American Ballet Theatre and City Ballet — will close his Salon Ishi on Saturday, after 27 years.
Ishi, and some of his staff, will move into Riccardo Maggiore’s salon on East 57th Street, where celebrity colorist Brad Johns also found a home.
“There are very few real artists left,’’ says Maggiore, who said Ishi is one of the originals.
