Bruce Willis breaks silence on being ‘asked to leave’ store for ‘refusing’ to wear a mask

Survive the Night: Exclusive clip shows Bruce Willis in car chase

Bruce Willis, 65, was reportedly asked to leave a Los Angeles Rite Aid store on Monday after he “refused” to wear a mask, according to US publication Page Six. According to a source, they confirmed people inside the shop became “upset” that the actor wasn’t abiding by California rules, which now state everyone must wear a mask or face covering when outside of their home, despite having a bandana around his neck. He has since admitted it was an “error in judgement”.

Willis told PEOPLE in an exclusive statement: “It was an error in judgement.

“Be safe out there everyone and let’s continue to mask up.” approached Willis’ rep for comment.

The state’s government now asks residents to wear mandatory face coverings in indoor spaces only as long as people remain six feet outside, as the coronavirus death toll tops 30,000, with LA becoming one of the worst-hit places in the US.

Following Page Six’s report, fans rushed to social media to share their concern and fury at the actor’s decision.

Many were “disgusted” with his actions, and condemned his choice to flout the rules so obviously.

“I thought he was better than that. What a shame,” one sighed.

Another snapped: “Make sure to keep maskless Bruce Willis in the waiting room for 8 hours.”

“Well that’s depressing. WTF is wrong with people?” a third asked.

A fourth complained: “Damn it! He was literally the last straight male star I grew up in love with to just show who they really are.”

A fifth praised the pharmacy for following the rules: “Good for them. Did he think he was too special to wear a mask?”

Someone else suggested he was a supporter of Donald Trump, who insisted when the coronavirus first emerged that it would not be a threat in the United States and spent months playing down the effectiveness of masks.

“I knew he was a Trumper,” they said. “I just didn’t think he was an anti masker too.”

On the other side, there were also fans who praised him for going against the grain, with one cheering: “Good for him.”

“Haha he’s the man,” laughed a second.

A third praised: “God, I love him!”

“How is his actions our business? No serious. We the people, who are intelligent, should spend more energy on intellectual things. If he passes we all will still talk about our favourite BW movie anyway!” a fourth noted.

Bruce’s daughter Rumer, recently urged people to “wear a damn mask” after being exposed to the virus.

She ranted on social media after coming into contact with someone who didn’t tell her they had experienced symptoms, and wasn’t wearing a face covering which left her “exposed”.

Taking to her Instagram story, she wrote: “It’s not up for discussion anymore! I don’t really care what you want to do for yourself but for others WEAR A DAMN MASK!

“I was exposed to covid today because someone didn’t feel the need to speak up about symptoms or wear a mask and I’m gonna be honest I’m pretty freaked out and angry. It’s not that difficult to be a decent human being and protect yourself and others.”(sic)
